Introducing our newest guest blogger Simon Heath
We are very pleased to announce that Simon Heath, Principal of Heath Law, Employment Lawyers, in Mississauga, Ontario, will be sharing his employment and labour law expertise with our readers on First Reference Talks, starting on August 28.Simon represents both public and private-sector employers and employees (unionized and non-unionized) at all levels of court and in all administrative tribunals. He also provides strategic advice on employment and labour law compliance with both the Ontario and the federal statutory regimes.
Simon has a particular interest in human rights and regularly represents both employers and employees at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and provides strategic advice on human rights compliance. In addition, Simon has a keen interest in assisting his client’s manage medical disabilities, the duty to accommodate and age discrimination – some of the most common issues on his desk. In fact, if Simon had a crystal ball he would say that age discrimination and its related issues will be one of the most important issues in human rights law in the next five years.
Simon was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2002 after obtaining his law degree at Queen’s University. Subsequently, he was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2003. Prior to law school, Simon obtained a BA at the University of Toronto in 1998, and his MIR at Queen’s University in 1999.
When Simon is not practicing law he can be found on the ski slopes in the Winter and training for his next marathon on a year round basis (to date he has completed 12 marathons and over 40 half marathons). Marathon training gives him the illusion that he can eat whatever he wants when he wants it. He’s also an avid music fan (in fact a big Rolling Stones fan) and Simon is one of the only Ottawa Senators fans in the GTA given he grew up in Ottawa, Ontario.
We look forward to hearing from Simon, and we hope you do, too!
