Employer did not take reasonable steps to prevent the death of a summer student
The Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta just allowed an appeal and confirmed that when an employer did not take reasonable steps to prevent the death of a summer student, the employer violated the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and was therefore convicted on two counts.
Harassment claims in a nursing home dismissed as disciplinary action
Two harassment claims from an employee of an Ontario nursing home were dismissed by the Ontario Labour Relations Board recently, citing the claims as misinterpretations of regular disciplinary action on behalf of the employer.
