New handout for supporting return to work
The Institute for Work & Health (IWH) has put together an evidence-based, two-page handout with practical advice for workplaces, insurance and workers’ compensation agencies and health-care authorities to help support the return to work of employees with musculoskeletal disorders or mental health conditions.
Consistent temp work is comparable to full-time job when assessing applicants
According to a recent study by the staffing firm Accountemps and reported by CNW, 69 percent of Canadian senior managers from across a variety of industries reported that they consider a long period of consistent temporary work comparable to full-time work when evaluating job candidates.
Rolling back certain labour relations reforms
On July 18, 2019, the Alberta government gave royal assent to Bill 2, An Act to Make Alberta Open for Business to make amendments to the Labour Relations Code to reduce unfair burdens on businesses and give workers more rights in unionized workplaces.
