Home Depot disclosed personal information without valid consent

Picture of key on keyboardOn January 26, 2023, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) found that Home Depot disclosed a customer’s personal information to Facebook (now Meta) without his knowledge or consent contrary to PIPEDA. Consequently, Home Depot needed to implement the OPC’s recommendations, which it did following the investigation.

Hefty GDPR fine for Meta

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has just been fined €265 million (about $275 million) by the Irish Data Protection Commission (Commission) following an inquiry that commenced in April, 2021.
