We all know by now that emails sometimes get people in trouble—and some people get in trouble due to thoughtless emails. For instance, many people have lost their jobs after inappropriate use of email in the workplace. Forwarding emails within the workplace may carry drastic consequences for the sender, especially if unwelcome, lewd or sexually charged emails sent to co-workers and/or subordinates result in conduct that is prejudicial for the company.
Employee’s options after constructive dismissal
What does an employee do if she has been constructively dismissed but has not been told to leave her employ? Is she still entitled to continue to work for the employer and look for alternative employment? Is she obligated to do so?
Conflicting views on engagement?
There are a lot of factors to employee engagement. Some employees need recognition, in the form of pay, benefits, seniority or favour. Others need to feel that they are part of the company and have a stake in its success. Still others need to feel a connection to their work; it must be creative and challenging. Most workers probably need some balance of all these factors. I know I wouldn't last long in a dull and repetitive environment. But I also would feel unappreciated if I weren't remunerated appropriately.
