On April 3, 2014, the Ontario Ministry of Labour announced the focus of its 2014-15 Employment Standards Act (ESA) inspection blitzes. A “blitz” occurs when the Ministry of Labour (MOL) decides to have its employment standards officers target industries that have a history of employment standards violations or industries that employ vulnerable workers in order to ensure compliance with the ESA.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour has announced a blitz of the retail industry for compliance with the Employment Standards Act, 2000. The blitz will run from October through to December 2013.
The Ministry of Labour in Ontario is putting in place several enforcement measures to ensure compliance with Employment Standards and Occupational Health and Safety, including proactive and increased inspections of workplaces.
