Employer ordered to return money deducted from its employee’s final paycheque

In a recent Ontario Labour Relations Board matter, it was found that it was improper for an employer to deduct $1,152.05 from its employee’s final paycheque.

Q: Employee calls in absent and claims being sick, then post pictures on Facebook of his great “night out” with comments of such including drinking a lot. Can I act upon this as a false sick day? Would discipline apply?

Employee established disability based on miscarriage

In a recent matter heard before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, it was decided that since the applicant had established a disability under Ontario’s Human Rights Code, the respondent’s motion to dismiss the applicant’s claim was denied.
