Top 10 most read Inside Internal Controls posts published in 2014 and Season's Greetings

The holidays are upon us and it is time to take a well deserved break. Please note that we will not be blogging during the holiday season from Thursday December 25, 2014, to Friday January 2, 2015, inclusive. Our bloggers will resume sharing with you, their expertise and interesting developments in the world of risk management and internal controls on Monday January 5, 2015.
We also would like to take the time to thank our regular and occasional bloggers for their valuable contributions to the Inside Internal Controls blog. We could not have done it without them. In addition, thanks to our loyal readership for making this blog a success.
We are signing off for 2014 with a list of the top 10 most read posts published in 2014. Although Canada’s anti-spam legislation dominated the list, accessibility, internal controls and charities were also very topical.

  1. New accessible buildings standards take effect in 2015 by Adam Gorley
  2. Canada’s anti-spam legislation – myths and misconceptions by Maanit Zemel
  3. Ontario exemption for Employer Health Tax increasing in 2014 by Yosie Saint-Cyr
  4. Canada’s anti-spam legislation – What is the regulator thinking?! by Maanit Zemel
  5. Ten frequently asked questions about Canada’s anti-spam legislation by Maanit Zemel

In the spirit of giving this holiday season

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, First Reference Inc. has made a donation to Liter of Light. There are over a billion people worldwide that do not have electricity. Liter of Light has developed an inexpensive way for people to use the sun to light their homes. Their latest project is the Liter of Light or Isang Litrong Liwanag. It brings the eco-friendly bottle light to communities living without electricity. It’s powerful enough to light up a home but more than that it’s environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and easy to make. The movement grew to brighten up 28,000 homes and the lives of 70,000 people in Metro Manila alone. Now Liter of Light is present in India and Indonesia among others.

Season’s greetings

Our regular guest bloggers and the Staff at First Reference wishes everyone a very Happy Holiday Season and all the best for the New Year/Nos blogeures et l’Équipe de La Référence vous souhaite de belles fêtes et une bonne et heureuse année.
See you in 2015!
