disposable maskAs Canadian federal, provincial and territorial governments carefully and gradually reopen their economies, those taking public transit, returning to work or going out shopping are being urged to continue to adhere to public health advice as to the best line of defence against COVID-19. One of the recommendations being put forward is to wear a non-surgical/medical face-covering in public where physical distancing is not possible, and that may include the workplace.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, foreign nationals in Canada may receive interim employment authorization while their inland work permit applications are pending

On May 12, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a temporary policy (Policy), which allows temporary foreign workers already in Canada to receive interim approval for employment in a new job or with a new employer, while their work permit application is being fully processed. The Policy went into effect on the same day as the announcement.
